Typhoon Uwan Intensifies, Landfall Expected in Aurora-Isabela

Typhoon Uwan continues to strengthen rapidly as it advances toward the Philippine Sea, east of the Bicol Region, according to Pagasa’s 5 p.m. bulletin on Saturday, November 8, 2025. The storm has gained significant intensity over the past day.

Current Position and Strength

As of the latest advisory, the typhoon’s center was located about 575 kilometers east of Catarman, Northern Samar, or roughly 620 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes. It carries maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour near the center, with gusts reaching 185 kilometers per hour, moving west-northwest at around 30 kilometers per hour.

Warnings and Potential Impact

Pagasa warned of a high risk of life-threatening storm surges with peak heights exceeding three meters within 48 hours over low-lying or exposed coastal areas.

These threatened areas include parts of Northern and Central Luzon, the Bicol Region, Northern and Eastern Samar, and portions of Mindanao, such as Dinagat and Siargao Islands.

Forecast and Expected Path

Typhoon Uwan is projected to make landfall over the southern part of Isabela or the northern part of Aurora on Sunday evening, November 9, or early Monday, November 10. After landfall, it is expected to cross the mountain ranges of Northern Luzon before reemerging over the Lingayen Gulf or the coastal waters off Pangasinan or La Union on Monday.

Pagasa noted that favorable atmospheric conditions could cause Uwan to strengthen further into a super typhoon by Saturday night or Sunday.
