Vince Gill Receives Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2025 CMA Awards

Vince Gill was honored with the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award during the 2025 Country Music Association Awards. The celebration recognized his nearly five-decade career as one of country music’s most respected and enduring voices.

Before accepting the award, Gill was serenaded by two celebrated peers. Brandi Carlile opened with a heartfelt rendition of “When I Call Your Name,” his 1989 breakthrough hit. Patti Loveless soon joined her on stage, creating a moving tribute that visibly touched Gill as he watched from the audience.

When it was time to accept the honor, Gill added humor to the emotional evening.

“It’s not lost on me that we had to have girls come out here and sing for me tonight. None of the boys can get up that high,”

he joked, drawing laughter from the crowd. Reflecting on the award’s prestige, he added:

“In the history of this award, I think it’s been given to maybe ten people, nine or ten, something like that. And that list of people is astounding.”

After expressing gratitude to his family and management team, Gill saluted country legend Willie Nelson, the award’s namesake.

“92 years old, you’re still inspiring us to this day. God bless.”

Since his debut in 1985, Gill has released 19 albums, with all of his solo projects since 1989 reaching the top ten on Billboard’s Hot Country chart.
