Ashley Storrie, daughter of Scottish comedian Janey Godley, posted a heartfelt message on Instagram marking one year since her mother's passing.
“It’s been a hard year. I tried to do what she asked of me. I tried to be good and nice and be the woman my mum wanted. I failed on several fronts but I tried. And some people picked at that weakness, smugly delighting in my failure to be that woman and some people helped hold me together when it felt like I was flying apart into atoms and nothing else.”
Janey Godley passed away last year at 63 after a long battle with ovarian cancer. She was candid about her illness, sharing much of her journey online.
Ashley Storrie’s tribute is a touching acknowledgment of both her mother’s strength and her own struggles in coping with the loss.
