Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown has been arrested on an attempted murder charge related to a shooting after a celebrity boxing event in Miami, police confirmed on Thursday.
Brown, 37, was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals in Dubai and flown to Essex County, New Jersey. He is currently held there pending extradition to Miami. Miami police spokesman Mike Vega confirmed the arrest but did not clarify why Brown was brought to New Jersey first or how long he had been in Dubai. Brown has recently posted on social media from Dubai several times.
According to an arrest warrant, the incident occurred on May 16. Brown allegedly grabbed a handgun from a security staffer following the boxing match and fired two shots at a man with whom he had earlier been involved in a fistfight.
