Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo will co-host a two-hour NBC special titled The Wonderful Witches of Oz as a musical celebration of Wicked.
The special, called “Wicked: One Wonderful Night,” offers fans an early musical experience just two weeks before the theatrical release of Wicked: For Good. It features performances by the two lead actresses accompanied by a 37-piece live orchestra and full ensemble dance numbers.
The trailer showcases Grande’s signature Glinda hair toss, a live performance of “What Is This Feeling?,” and the duet “For Good.” Jeff Goldblum, who plays the Wizard, appeared on piano during the show.
“Wicked: One Wonderful Night” will premiere exclusively on NBC on Thursday at 8 p.m. It will then be available to stream on Peacock starting Friday, Nov. 7.
The special was recorded in October at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles with a live audience. Alongside Grande and Erivo, the cast includes Michelle Yeoh (Madame Morrible), Jeff Goldblum (The Wizard of Oz), Ethan Slater (Boq), Marissa Bode (Nessarose), and Bowen Yang.
Jonathan Bailey was unable to join the special.
This special offers a unique live musical celebration of Wicked ahead of its upcoming film release.
