Jennifer Lawrence shared her thoughts on nudity and body image during the filming of her new movie, Die My Love. The 35-year-old actress explained her comfort with vulnerable scenes and her decision not to have her cellulite retouched.
At a special screening, Lawrence told the audience that she isn't sensitive about nudity and wanted director Lynne Ramsay to have full artistic freedom. She said,
“I don't care about nudity. I'm not sensitive about it.”
Lawrence also noted that pregnancy reduced her vanity and anxiety about appearance, contrasting with her previous routine before filming No Hard Feelings, where she dieted and exercised intensely.
During Die My Love, Lawrence was pregnant with her second child, which brought a different mindset to the shoot. She recalled being tired and reassured the crew when they asked about retouching close-ups of her cellulite:
“I remember them sending over a close-up of, like, cellulite being like, 'Do you want us to touch this up?' I said, 'That's an ass.'”
She found it liberating not to worry about her appearance while portraying Grace, a new mother experiencing postpartum psychosis.
Jennifer Lawrence shares two sons with her husband Cooke Maroney: Cy, aged 3, and a newborn. She has previously spoken openly about postpartum anxiety, revealing to The New Yorker,
“I just thought every time he was sleeping he was dead.”
Jennifer Lawrence embraces natural vulnerability in her roles, prioritizing artistic freedom and body positivity while openly discussing her experiences with pregnancy and postpartum challenges.
