Man pledges charity boost as Brookmans Park street scoops huge Postcode Lottery win

Man Pledges Charity Boost After Brookmans Park Wins £1 Million Postcode Lottery Prize

Seven neighbours from a quiet street in Brookmans Park have become instant millionaires after their postcode, AL9 6PT, was selected as the People’s Postcode Lottery’s “Millionaire Street” winner. Together, they will share a total of £1 million.

Among the winners was 52-year-old Steven Bean, who, along with his wife Olesya, secured a £249,999 prize. He immediately pledged to donate part of his winnings to a local charity supporting adults with learning difficulties.

“The first thing I’m going to do is give some money to a charity who had a bus stolen and burned.”

The charity, Camphill Milton Keynes, had its only minibus stolen on October 9 and later found burned. Bean said that while insurance would cover part of the loss, it would not fully replace the vehicle and hoped others would contribute as well.

“The bus is insured, but it won’t cover the cost of getting a new one. Hopefully other people will give them a few quid too.”

Lucy Davies, head of development at Camphill, described the event as deeply distressing for their residents, calling it a confusing and upsetting experience.

“It has been a very difficult time for our residents who have found this situation very confusing and upsetting.”
