M1 has been hit with a lawsuit by Liberty Wireless, the parent company of Circles.Life, over a contract signed in 2019.
According to a stock market filing by Keppel, Liberty Wireless alleges that M1 refused to negotiate amendments to the agreement in good faith, despite the necessity to address implications of the wholesale framework issued by the Infocomm Media Development Authority in January 2020.
M1 does not find merit in the case and intends to defend its position at the appropriate forum.
The lawsuit is not expected to affect the proposed sale of M1 to Simba Telecom, according to Keppel. M1 is the third-largest mobile operator in Singapore, with 1.6 million connections as of end-September, based on GSMA Intelligence data.
