Upgraded Xbox Cloud Gaming Runs at 1440p/60fps

Early hands-on impressions of the enhanced Xbox Cloud Gaming are drawing positive reactions. Users report that demanding open-world games like The Witcher 3 now stream smoothly in 1440p resolution.

The upgraded streaming quality comes with the more expensive Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, offering performance comparable to certain GeForce Now plans. This change may help offset frustration over recent Xbox Game Pass price hikes.

Improved Streaming Performance

With the beta phase concluded, several Xbox Cloud Gaming titles are now achieving higher resolutions and more stable frame rates. Jez Corden from Windows Central showcased these improvements, suggesting that Xcloud could become a viable alternative to Nvidia’s GeForce Now.

“It’s a night and day difference from previous streaming sessions,” said Jez Corden, noting minimal latency and smooth performance at 2560 x 1440 and 60 fps.

Subscription Tiers and Access

In Corden’s test on the ROG Xbox Ally handheld, The Witcher 3 maintained a steady 60 frames per second, demonstrating the evolving capabilities of cloud streaming.
