Aggro Crab and Landfall's breakout co-op climbing game, Peak, is getting even stranger with its latest free update. This indie hit has gained popularity as more groups of friends take on the challenging climbs.
The Roots Update: New Biome and Challenges
The update introduces a new biome inspired by the dense forests of the Pacific Northwest. Players continue climbing but now ascend towering trees filled with unique dangers.
- Giant insects, such as spiders, pose threats by cocooning players in webs and dropping them, risking a long fall.
- Players can eat native mushrooms they find, which might cause zombie-like effects.
Enhancements to Cooking Mechanics
The update also includes tweaks to the cooking system:
- Non-food items placed in the fire now show effects, though the developers have not revealed details, encouraging experimentation.
- Players can cook poison out of berries, but not from mushrooms, so caution is needed with fungi found in the Roots.
