Alexis Black, formerly known as Grant Freeman, recently appeared in a women's locker room at a Los Angeles gym, raising controversy due to his violent past. Black made headlines after singer Tish Hyman reported his presence inside the Beverly Center Gold Gym’s women’s locker room.
Hyman claimed that Black exposed himself and harassed women, including herself, while in the locker room. Following her complaint, Gold’s Gym revoked Hyman’s membership. She tweeted on November 3, 2025:
“#goldsgym terminated my membership after the MAN was escorted out by police. Then had me escorted out by officers afterwards. I left but not before making sure everyone KNEW that they were allowing MEN in the locker room !!!!!” — Tish Hyman (@listen2tish)
According to the New York Post, Black pleaded guilty in 2022 to violently assaulting his then-wife, Alexis Freeman, resulting in a compound fractured jaw that required surgery. Court documents state:
“Kyle Grant Freeman caused serious physical harm to the victim. The victim suffered a compound fractured mandible, which resulted in her needing surgery.”
In addition to this conviction, Black has a criminal history involving domestic violence, drug trafficking, and resisting arrest. After changing his name, he adopted his ex-wife’s first name, Alexis.
This case highlights concerns about safety and accountability when individuals with violent convictions access sensitive areas like women’s locker rooms.
