Livinia Nixon Announces Departure from 9News Melbourne

After two decades as Melbourne’s most beloved weather presenter, Livinia Nixon has announced she will step down from her role at 9News Melbourne. Her final weather report is scheduled to air on Tuesday, 18 November.

A Career Spanning Two Decades

Livinia Nixon joined the Nine Network in 1997 and has served as the weather presenter for 9News Melbourne since 2004. Over the years, she became one of the most familiar and trusted faces on Australian television.

A Family-Focused Decision

“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them,” Nixon said.
“It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.”

Continuing with Nine Network

While Nixon will no longer present the nightly weather, she will continue her involvement with the Nine Network, appearing on the popular travel programs Getaway and Postcards.

“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me,” she said.
“When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’ I’m thrilled to be staying with Nine and will continue my roles on Getaway and Postcards.”
