Warriors Triple Up Hitmen to Start the Week
The Moose Jaw Warriors snapped a streak on Wednesday night with a commanding 6–2 victory over the Calgary Hitmen.
Pavel McKenzie opened the scoring just before the seven-minute mark with a power-play goal — his fifth of the season. Moments later, Dominik Pavlik extended the lead at even strength.
Although the Warriors earned another man advantage late in the first, they failed to convert. However, team captain Lynden Lakovic scored shortly after to make it 3–0 by the end of the opening period. The Warriors also had to finish the frame killing a penalty assessed to Steven Steranka for cross-checking.
Early in the second period, Moose Jaw successfully killed off the remainder of Steranka’s penalty before being penalized again for a kneeing call on defenseman Connor Schmidt. Calgary seized the opportunity, netting its first goal of the night on the power play.
A scuffle in front of goaltender Chase Wutzke’s net soon followed, leading to offsetting minor penalties for Brady Ness and Harrison Lodewyk, leaving the teams skating four-on-four.
