Grant "Alexis Black" Freeman is an Ohio-born somatic healer and fitness coach who publicly came out as transgender in October 2024.
The viral confrontation occurred at the Beverly Hills Gold's Gym, now operating as EoS Fitness, involving musician Tish Hyman and Alexis Black. Hyman accused Black, a transgender woman and gym member, of being "a man in the women's locker room."
“Grown men with big d***s [are] in the women's locker room,”
Hyman shouted during the incident, which was recorded by Brazilian journalist Paulo Francisco as bystanders filmed.
After the event, Hyman posted on Instagram that she and several women had repeatedly filed written complaints about the same individual before the gym acted.
“The gym staff has done absolutely nothing,”
she wrote, urging a boycott of EoS Fitness and rejecting accusations of transphobia.
“I treat people how I want to be treated... but this isn't right,”
Following the confrontation, Hyman's gym membership was terminated. A Gold's Gym spokesperson explained the location's transition to EoS Fitness and confirmed that the situation is under active review by the franchise.
The incident involving Alexis Black and Tish Hyman highlights ongoing tensions over transgender inclusion and safety in public gyms, provoking strong community reactions and institutional responses.
