On October 14, 2025, youth journalists from KidScoop Media interviewed education activist Malala Yousafzai via Zoom to discuss her new memoir Finding My Way.
The memoir covers Malala’s experiences as a student at Oxford University, highlighting both the joys and challenges she faced. It explores how she balanced her education advocacy with academic demands, her evolving relationship with mental health and self-care, and her experience of falling in love. The book offers an insightful look into her life and perspective, making it a meaningful contribution to memoir literature.
“I have come against criticism, comments my whole life. And you know, I have now grown through it… You know, I try to take any positive um, you know, good recommendation that can be helpful, but then there’s a lot that is not helpful at all and doesn’t add anything to the mission that I am focused on. So, sometimes, the best way is to avoid it.”
Malala reflected on growing up under intense public scrutiny as a girls’ education activist, sharing how she navigates criticism by focusing on constructive feedback and ignoring negativity that does not serve her mission.
Malala’s memoir offers a candid and inspiring portrayal of her student years, revealing the balance between advocacy, personal growth, and resilience under public pressure.
