Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement warning that parts of southern Ontario may experience their first measurable snowfall of the season this Sunday. Areas including Hamilton, Burlington, Brantford, and nearby communities could see between two and 10 centimetres of snow starting in the morning and tapering off by evening.
“A low pressure system could bring significant snowfall to parts of southern Ontario on Sunday,” Environment Canada said in its statement.
Meteorologist Trudy Kidd explained that this would mark the first round of winter conditions for much of the region. However, she noted that confidence remains low regarding the exact intensity and location of snowfall, and accumulation totals may still vary.
“Motorists should expect difficult winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly. Poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays,” the agency advised.
Drivers are also being reminded to install winter tires before the storm arrives to ensure safer travel on slippery roads.
