How London Councillors’ New Pay Compares to Other Ontario Cities
London’s 14 ward councillors serving on city council in the 2026–30 term and beyond will receive a 35% pay increase, starting at an estimated $94,222.
Approved by a 9-6 vote on Tuesday and effective when the new council is sworn in on November 15, 2026, the base pay for councillors will rise from the median full-time income in the London census metropolitan area to the 70th percentile. This change means councillors will earn more than 70% of London region residents.
Currently, councillors earn $67,420, with an automatic increase to $69,783 scheduled for the new year. The estimated pay after the October 2026 election at the 70th percentile is $94,222.
