Plans have been approved for the construction of 278 energy-efficient homes in Herne Hill, Lambeth. The upgrade permits the developer L&G to add 60 units to the previously approved 218 homes granted planning consent in December 2021.
The project, located east of Shakespeare Road, involves modifications to three buildings, allowing for more affordable and high-quality housing options for local residents. Consultations with the community were held earlier this year to refine the design and scope of the scheme.
“This new scheme reflects the borough’s commitment to tackling the housing crisis and ensuring developments deliver real benefits for local communities,” said Cllr Danny Adilypour, Deputy Leader of Lambeth Council and Cabinet Member for Housing, Investment and New Homes.
“Such benefits complement our ambition to deliver over 600 new affordable and social rent homes on council land by 2030.”
The project supports Lambeth Council’s dual goals of addressing both the housing shortage and the climate challenge through sustainable building practices.
Lambeth Council approved plans for 278 sustainable homes in Herne Hill, expanding L&G’s project to deliver more affordable housing and strengthen community infrastructure.
