China Supports Nigeria Against Terrorism

The Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, affirmed China's ongoing support for Nigeria's fight against terrorism and efforts to maintain national stability.

Diplomatic Engagement and Cooperation

Following a meeting with Nigeria's National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Dunhai highlighted the positive results of bilateral cooperation since President Bola Tinubu attended the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, along with his state visit to China last year. These developments have contributed to Nigeria’s socioeconomic progress.

“As a comprehensive strategic partner of Nigeria, China firmly supports the Nigerian government in leading its people to a development path that fits Nigeria’s national realities,”

Yu Dunhai stated.

Opposition to External Interference

Dunhai reiterated China’s firm stance against foreign interference in the internal matters of other countries. He specifically cautioned against exploiting religion or human rights as justification for imposing sanctions or using force.

“We oppose any country’s interference in other countries’ internal affairs under the pretext of religion and human rights. We oppose the wanton threat of sanction and use of force,”

he added.

Commitment to Security Cooperation

China remains dedicated to enhancing security cooperation with Nigeria to effectively counter terrorism and ensure peace within the country.
