Nic Sima recorded his first hat trick of the season, while Nikita Klepov continued his strong run with two goals and an assist, marking his seventh multi-point game. Goaltender Stepan Shurygin matched his season high with 40 saves, leading Saginaw to its fourth win in the last five games.
On the other side, the Brantford Bulldogs extended their unbeaten streak by defeating the Firebirds 7-0 at the Dort Financial Center. Marek Vanacker scored twice during a five-goal third period, bringing his season total to 14 goals. Jeremy Freeman notched his first OHL goal, and Ryerson Leenders earned his fifth career shutout with 30 saves.
This matchup marks the first of two meetings between these teams this season, with the next scheduled for March 6, 2026. Last year, Brantford took both games, including an 11-3 victory at the Dow Event Center, where Seattle Kraken prospect Jake O’Brien tallied five points (3 goals, 2 assists).
