Comedian and “Therapuss” podcast host Jake Shane will executive produce and star in a new half-hour Hulu comedy based on his personal experiences. The project is currently in development with 20th Television.
The series will follow Shane and his closest friends as they navigate the unpredictable world of online fame, the pressures it brings to their friendships, and the ripple effects their newfound celebrity has within their suburban community.
“Hacks” writer and “High Potential” consulting producer Genevieve Aniello will pen the pilot and serve as executive producer. Director Paul Briganti, known for his work on “Saturday Night Live,” will also direct and executive produce.
The pilot originates from a story written by Shane, Aniello, and Briganti. Joining them as executive producers are Alec Berg of “Barry” and “Silicon Valley” fame and his producing partner Amy Solomon, through their overall deal with 20th Television.
Shane launched “Therapuss with Jake Shane” in January 2024. The show quickly rose in popularity, becoming one of Spotify’s top podcasts and earning a spot on Apple Podcasts’ 20th anniversary list. In 2025, Shane received the Webby Award for Best Comedy Creator and was featured among Forbes’ top creators of the year.
