Mail Service to Canada to Resume Next Week

Mail shipments from Bermuda to Canada will resume next week despite the ongoing rolling strike by Canada Post. A spokeswoman for the Bermuda Post Office (BPO) confirmed that mail will be sent to Canada starting Monday.

However, she warned that delivery delays may still happen due to the continuing disruptions. She stated:

“The BPO appreciates the public’s patience and co-operation during this time.”

Mail delivery services were suspended in late September because of a nationwide strike at Canada Post. Last month, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers shifted from a full strike to a rotating strike that permits partial resumption of mail delivery.

Local Post Office Closure

The Bermuda Post Office also announced that all local post offices will close at noon tomorrow for a staff event. The spokeswoman added:

“The BPO apologises for any inconvenience this early closure may cause.”
