Shoshana Bean on Watching the ‘Wicked’ Films
Shoshana Bean, former Broadway star of Wicked, shared why she hasn’t seen Wicked: Part 1 yet, even though the sequel, Wicked: For Good, is set to hit theaters in November.
Waiting for a Back-to-Back Viewing
At the New York Restoration Project Hulaween Gala on October 24, Bean explained to PEOPLE her reason for waiting:
“I waited until the second, so I could watch them back-to-back,” Bean said. She is “absolutely” excited to experience both films in sequence.
Connection to the Role and the Film
Bean, who played Elphaba on Broadway from 2005 to 2006, looks forward to the cinematic portrayal of the show’s music.
“It’s a very cinematic song, and I would love to see it have more life than what a stage is capable of doing,” she said about the song “No Good Deed.”
She praised the director Jon Chu’s creativity:
“I could not even possibly imagine to the extent that Jon Chu’s genius can dream, can create.”
