After sweeping Ohio State on the road, No. 3 Penn State men's hockey team faces another ranked opponent this weekend at Michigan State. Before heading to East Lansing, a venue known for its challenging atmosphere, head coach Guy Gadowsky and forward Gavin McKenna spoke with the media on Monday about the upcoming top-five series.
Penn State will compete without forward Aiden Fink, a top-10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award last season, who sustained an upper-body injury in the game against Ohio State last Thursday and missed the following game. Coach Gadowsky explained the situation:
"He has an upper body injury. He will be out for the foreseeable future."
Though no exact timeline is set, Gadowsky expects Fink to return this season, likely around Christmas.
In Fink’s absence, the team plans to continue with the rotation used on Friday but remain flexible to changes as needed.
“It’s going to suck without him in the lineup, but we know guys are going to step up,” McKenna said. “It’s a big role to fill, so guys will be working hard, and I’m going to make sure I’m doing my job.”
The Nittany Lions aim to maintain their strength and adapt while facing one of college hockey’s toughest road challenges.
Summary: Penn State men's hockey prepares for a tough road series at Michigan State while adapting to the absence of key forward Aiden Fink due to injury.
