Stephen Curry led the Golden State Warriors with 24 points in a 114-109 defeat against the Indiana Pacers on Saturday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Despite his strong performance, the team struggled to secure the win, especially in the third quarter.
Curry acknowledged the Warriors made things difficult for themselves with poor organization and energy lapses. He said,
“There are parts of the game where we just… made it too hard on all of us with not getting organized, bad possessions, a little lack of energy. And you give a team like that life.”
The Warriors held an 88-82 lead going into the fourth quarter but were unable to maintain it. Pacers’ Quenton Jackson scored 12 of his 25 points in the last period, tilting the momentum.
Curry stressed his own need to improve decisiveness and aggression, not only in shooting but in playmaking and organizing teammates:
“I got to be better just being more decisive, more aggressive, even not to shoot, but to play make and get everybody organized.”
He also emphasized professionalism and readiness as a veteran in the league:
“Just be professional, understand what you need to do to get your body, your mind ready to bring your best self… you have to demonstrate that, execute it.”
On the defensive side, Curry pointed out that turnovers heavily impacted the game’s momentum. He noted,
“There were a couple possessions… turnovers in the third quarter… you give them a fast break layup. It changes the momentum.”
These mistakes contributed to shifting control toward the Pacers and ultimately the Warriors’ loss.
Stephen Curry highlighted the Warriors’ organizational lapses, crucial turnovers, and the need for professionalism, which all factored into their narrow defeat on the road against the Pacers.
