After deadly flooding devastated the Philippines, a stronger typhoon is approaching.
Typhoon Kalmaegi, known locally as Tino, has left parts of the Philippines severely damaged. Search and rescue operations are underway, with over 100 fatalities confirmed as people begin to recover from the destruction.
Typhoon Fung-wong, called Uwan in the Philippines, is expected to be much stronger than Kalmaegi. AccuWeather meteorologists predict it will reach the strength of a Category 4 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Wind Scale before making landfall in the northern Philippines on Sunday.
"The combination of heavy rain, strong winds and coastal flooding will result in Fung-wong/Uwan being a 5 on the AccuWeather RealImpact™ Scale for Tropical Cyclones in the northern Philippines, the strongest rating on the scale."
This severe storm threatens the already flood-hit regions, highlighting the need for urgent preparedness and response.
