Wiltshire Council has opened bidding for a motorway pinch point fix, with the project set to start construction in 2027.
The upgrade will see the junction fully signalised, widened, and upgraded to handle future growth in traffic volumes along the A350 corridor between Wiltshire and the South Coast.
Funding has been secured through the Government’s Major Road Network programme, with the scheme identified as a regional priority by the Western Gateway sub-national Transport Body.
Works will “maximise and optimise capacity of the junction within the bounds of the existing highway” and avoid piecemeal upgrades over coming years.
Author's summary: Bidding starts for £22m M4 upgrade.
