The Georgia Bulldogs football community came together this week as current players and legendary alumni joined forces to support former coach Mark Richt’s battle with Parkinson’s disease. The annual Dawg Bowl, a bowling fundraiser, took place on Wednesday to raise funds for the Isakson Center for Neurological Disease Research.
Proceeds from the event will contribute to research on Parkinson’s and Crohn’s diseases. Coach Mark Richt, diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2021, and his organization hosted this event to raise both funds and awareness for these conditions.
Former players showed strong support for their coach. Richt expressed appreciation, saying,
“Every one of the guys I asked said yes.”
Current head coach Kirby Smart also encouraged his active roster to participate, creating a powerful connection between different eras of the program. Smart previously coached running backs under Richt in 2005 and has preserved many of the traditions Richt established.
The event underscored the program’s continuity and the strong brotherhood that spans generations of Georgia football players.
