EXCLUSIVE: Kayo Sports to Offer Alternate F1 Commentary for Season End

Starting this weekend with the Formula 1 race in Brazil, Australian streaming service Kayo will give fans the option to choose between two commentary teams during the main race across the final four events of the season.

This move addresses growing frustration among Australian viewers who feel the UK commentary shows a bias toward UK drivers, particularly Lando Norris in his battles with Oscar Piastri. While Norris is performing well, the UK commentary often overlooks Piastri's progress and emphasizes Lando’s new championship lead prematurely.

"Lando is doing a great job, but the lack of attention to Oscars rise through the places, his position within DRS and the talk of Lando’s new Championship lead as if he’d already won the Championship are just over the top."

After polling audiences across multiple platforms, there was strong demand for an alternate commentary—ideally an Australian team, possibly including a local race driver—offering unbiased coverage that focuses on key drivers like Max Verstappen, Oscar Piastri, and Lando Norris, rather than just highlighting one.

While Fox Sports has not produced such a local commentary team, they have incorporated the alternative commentary from the F1 TV team, providing viewers with a neutral option.

"Not wanting a team to just talk about Oscar – not at all, just remove the UK leaning and tell us what’s happening across the grid with a Focus on Max, Oscar and Lando."

Fans now have greater choice in how they experience the concluding races of the F1 season, reflecting a push for balanced and comprehensive coverage.

Author's summary: Kayo Sports introduces alternate F1 commentary with a neutral perspective, responding to fans' demand for fairer coverage of top drivers in the season's final races.
