A woman and a child have died after falling into a waterway in southeast Melbourne. The incident occurred at Dandenong Creek, near Allan Street in Dandenong, around 3:45pm on Monday.
Authorities believe the mother began struggling in the water after trying to rescue the child. Emergency services arrived quickly and found both unconscious. Despite performing CPR, neither could be revived. Both were declared dead at the scene.
