Radio 2 DJ Sara Cox is embarking on a demanding 135-mile challenge to support Children in Need this year. The Bolton-born presenter begins her journey in Kielder Forest near the Scottish borders on Monday, November 10, and plans to finish in Pudsey, Leeds, by Friday, November 14.
Sara follows her Radio 2 colleague Paddy McGuinness, who raised £10 million last year after completing a tough cycling challenge for the cause. This year, Sara is taking on the feat on foot.
“We’re talking 135 miles of hills, moors and blisters – but I am ready for the challenge, and I will absolutely be giving it everything I’ve got!” Sara told the BBC.
“When they picked me to get Pudsey to Pudsey, I was honoured and horrified in equal measure.”
Sara’s efforts aim to raise awareness and funds for Children in Need, joining a longstanding tradition of challenging events to support the charity’s vital work.
