Her representative, Michael Greene, informed the Daily Mail that Kirkland has been diagnosed with dementia over the past year and is now at a hospice in a Palm Springs hospital.

According to a GoFundMe page created to support Kirkland's medical expenses, the actress suffered fractures to four bones including her neck, right wrist, and left hip. During her recovery, she contracted two separate life-threatening infections.
