Canadian tennis player Félix Auger-Aliassime staged an impressive comeback to earn his first ATP Finals win in three years, defeating Ben Shelton 4–6, 7–6(7), 7–5 in Turin. The victory kept him alive in the Björn Borg round-robin group.
After dropping the first set, Auger-Aliassime battled back to edge Shelton in a tense second-set tiebreak and carried the momentum into the decider. The match lasted two hours and twenty-five minutes, marked by shifting momentum and fierce competition.
“It was a rollercoaster,” Auger-Aliassime said after the match. “It was the type of match where the two players give everything, and only one can win. It was really tight margins in the second and third sets, a huge battle.”
Both players entered the contest 0–1 in their group, with Auger-Aliassime previously losing to world No. 1 Jannik Sinner and Shelton falling to No. 3 Alexander Zverev. Shelton appeared close to victory when he earned a break point late in the second set, but the Canadian steadied his nerves to turn the match around and close it out in the final set.
“I have a lot of respect for Ben and everything he does, so it was a pleasure to share the court with him and to play tennis that way, really being involved and playing with high emotions every point,” Auger-Aliassime added.
Félix Auger-Aliassime’s spirited comeback in Turin showcased his resilience and emotional intensity, marking a vital step in his ATP Finals campaign.
