Avalanche Journal: Fans aren’t only ones excited to meet Rebecca Yarros at ‘Fourth Wing’ night

Avalanche Journal: Excitement Builds for Rebecca Yarros at ‘Fourth Wing’ Night

Brock Nelson first discovered Violet Sorrengail while browsing a bookstore in Toronto with former New York Islanders teammate Matt Martin. Similarly, Scott Wedgewood became captivated by the world of “Fourth Wing,” a dragon-riding romantasy series, during a road trip from Michigan to Denver.

On Thursday, more than 2,500 fans purchased special tickets for “Fourth Wing” night at Ball Arena, celebrating Rebecca Yarros’ debut novel in the “Empyrean” series. This event has created anticipation not only among fans but also among the players.

“I’m pumped for that night, the jersey, having Rebecca there,” Nelson said. “I’m hoping I get to meet her. It’s cool to have that connection now. Last year, I remember somebody was like, ‘Hey, did you see the author of ‘Fourth Wing’ was at one of your games?’ I had no idea. Then I saw that she’s a huge fan. Fast forward to now with ‘Fourth Wing’ night, and it’s pretty cool.”

Rebecca Yarros, a Colorado Springs resident and hockey mom, is well-known among the Avalanche community. Her family supports the Avs, although her husband, originally from the East Coast, grew up a Rangers fan. The couple attended a game in Denver last season where the idea of Yarros throwing out the first pitch at Fenway Park was discussed.
