Houston experienced striking weather contrasts over the weekend, swinging from nearly 90 degrees to the chilly 30s. Clear skies and a warming trend are expected to follow later in the week.
According to the Houston Chronicle, the city approached a scorching 90 degrees on Saturday, nearly breaking a November record. The heat quickly gave way to much cooler air as a pair of cold fronts advanced through the region.
The first cold front arrived on Sunday, reducing daytime highs to around 70 degrees and bringing gusts that reached 30 mph. A second front late Sunday night pushed temperatures even lower, dipping into the 30s near Houston.
“This significant shift in weather was complemented by clear skies and sunny days,” reported the National Weather Service.
By Monday morning, temperatures hovered just above 40 degrees, and areas north of Interstate 10 recorded upper-30 readings — conditions not seen since late February.
Despite the frosty start, forecasters anticipate clearer skies and a gradual warming trend through the coming days.
