Head Coach Jon Cooper spoke to the media following the Bolts’ 2-0 loss to the New York Islanders on Saturday night at Benchmark International Arena in Tampa.
“We weren’t good enough five-on-five tonight,” Cooper said. “We had a few chances, but we didn’t execute when it mattered.”
The Islanders controlled the pace early and protected the lead, while Tampa Bay struggled to create consistent offensive pressure. Key moments included several flipped pucks and tight checks in the neutral zone, limiting Grade-A scoring chances for the home team.
Cooper emphasized the need for better puck management and stronger on-ice communication. He noted that timely adjustments to the second period would be critical in upcoming games to regain momentum.
