Topper could have been better in the playoffs, particularly with the Game 2 bunt decision. Maybe the bullpen could have been managed a little bit better. However, most Phillies fans would probably agree that the bats were the biggest problem.
- Trea Turner, Bryce Harper, and Kyle Schwarber went 1 for 14 in game four with four strikeouts.
- They plated 2.3 runs per game in games 1, 2, and 4.
- The pitching staff showed up in a big way.
It was the hitting that really let the team down, again. If you’re gonna fire anybody, you can make a stronger case for Kevin Long than Rob Thomson.
