Australian tech firm Silicon Quantum Computing (SQC) is developing commercial-scale quantum computing technology. Telstra has teamed up with SQC to test the applicability of quantum computing-enhanced machine learning to predictive telecom network analytics.
Over a 12-month period, SQC and Telstra evaluated SQC's quantum-enhanced machine-learning system, called Watermelon, which generates quantum features for use in AI models. The goal was to improve existing predictive network analytics processes.
Telstra currently uses a combination of machine learning and AI to predict network performance and detect changes in network patterns, analyzing metrics like latency and bandwidth to predict potential variances.
