Sarah Mescall, a 14-year-old from Co Clare, died from irreversible brain damage after inhaling the contents of an aerosol deodorant.
The incident occurred at her family home, and she became unwell after sniffing the deodorant, which her mother had bought just hours earlier.
There is a long association between the inhalation of “volatile substances,” such as those containing deodorants, and sudden, unexpected deaths.
