A 37-year-old woman from Den Helder broke a record on a breathalyzer test, blowing 1340 µg/l, which is equivalent to 2.9 per mille alcohol.
In the Netherlands, the legal limit is 0.5 per mille alcohol in the blood. The woman was pulled over by police on Molenstraat due to her driving behavior.
“Unfortunately, this is not a record to be proud of,”
said the police, noting that the incident occurred in the middle of the day. The woman's driver's license was confiscated, and she admitted to struggling with an alcohol addiction.
“We sincerely wish her strength and success in working through her alcohol addiction,”
said the police. With this result, the woman tops the list of drunk drivers this year, and the police hope that no one will try to break this record.
The police also expressed their hope that the woman will not get behind the wheel again.
