Flooding in Southwest Colorado Forces Evacuations

Heavy rain from Hurricane Priscilla has caused flooding in southwest Colorado, forcing approximately 390 households to evacuate.

The flooding has affected communities north of Vallecito Reservoir, with up to 100 homes impacted. According to Sarah Jacobson, public information officer for the incident,

“Typically (for) the water gages on Vallecito Creek, high water is under 3,000 cubic feet per second,”
she said.
“This morning it was at 6,800 cubic feet per second.”

No deaths or major injuries have been reported. Emergency responders have evacuated the affected areas, with La Plata County and the Upper Pine River Fire Protection District responding to the incident.
