The Diocese of Lexington, Kentucky, has developed a plan to make all its buildings net-zero by 2030, inspired by Pope Francis' 2015 encyclical Laudato Si'.
The plan includes all 59 parishes in the diocese, spanning over 50 counties in central and eastern Kentucky, and is a direct response to the Pope's call to engage in dialogue about the future of the planet.
"The earth and all in it belongs to God."
As noted in the plan, this initiative acknowledges environmental challenges, as urged by Pope Francis in Laudato Si', and aims to make a significant impact by 2030.
