Rasmussen Real Unemployment Rate: Remains The Same

National unemployment was 8.3% in this month’s Rasmussen Reports Real Unemployment update, remaining the same as last month.

Due to the government shutdown, there is no percentage officially reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics for today.

The Rasmussen Real Unemployment rate is derived by asking American Adults who they work for. Those who respond “unemployed, but looking for work” are aggregated at the end of the month and weighted to match the nation’s demographic profile.

The survey of 10,147 American Adults was conducted September 1-30, 2025 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 1 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.

Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC.
