Man Given Suspended Sentence for Street Brawl in Dundalk

A 25-year-old man, Colm Bracken, was given a suspended sentence for his involvement in a street brawl in Dundalk.

Bracken pleaded guilty to an amended indictment of affray in May, after a jury had been sworn in for his trial.

The incident occurred on Castletown Road, Dundalk, in the early hours of July 18th, 2021, where Bracken knocked a man out with a punch and continued to hit and kick him while he was on the ground.

He claimed he was acting in self-defence when interviewed by gardaí.
