Air Canada Ending North Bay Service
Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli states that Air Canada is responsible for the termination of its North Bay service.
Fedeli claims the airline had a "self-fulfilling prophecy" of failing scheduling that led to the service's demise.
“Personally, I’m disappointed in Air Canada,”
says Fedeli. Air Canada, initially known as Trans-Canada Airlines, began operating in North Bay in 1939 and continued uninterrupted until the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.
- Four flights a day were initially offered.
- In November, the frequency will decrease to four flights a week.
- The service will cease entirely by the end of January.
The City of North Bay has provided emergency funding to Jack Garland Airport, and Fedeli mentions that alternative solutions are being explored.
