Mount Ayr Wins Battle for the Rock Trophy
Mount Ayr Raiders dominated the game against Nodaway Valley/OM, winning 47-6 and taking home the trophy for the third time in a row.
The Raiders started strong, scoring 35 points in the first quarter. NV/OM junior Caleb Christensen received a handoff with a clear running lane during the game.
- NV/OM fell to 1-6 overall and finished the Class A, District 7 slate with one win.
- Mount Ayr won its third-straight district game and were 3-2 going into a Week 8 game with Southwest Valley.
The annual Battle for the Rock trophy game honors past coaches Dave Still and Bob Daut.
The Wolverines will close the season facing non-district foe Martensdale-St. Mary's Blue Devils, who are 2-5 and have lost four of their last five games.
