Kelowna Airport Responds to Pro-Hamas Hacker Incident
The City of Kelowna has released details about the hacking of airport systems on Tuesday.
The hacker, who expressed anti-Israel and pro-Hamas sentiment, gained access to the terminal's flight information screens and PA system, but was shut down "within a matter of minutes."
The cyber security incident was limited to a cloud-based third party software provider.
Airport systems are designed to be segregated, protecting against cyber security incidents migrating from one network to another. All affected systems were isolated, verified, and restored late that night.
