Why I Still Love Newspapers
I am a week late to this discussion, having recently shared my experiences in Iraq 20 years ago with the brave men and women of Georgia's 48th Brigade Combat Team, where I encountered an IED up close.
Last week marked National Newspaper Week, a celebration that holds personal significance for me. As a columnist, I have the privilege of sharing my thoughts with readers each week, thanks to the editors, and then receiving feedback on those thoughts.
With nearly three decades of experience in this role, I have formed meaningful connections with regular readers, despite never having met them in person. You, the readers, have been with me through both good times and bad, offering constructive criticism when needed and confirming that my column is being read through your responses to errors or inaccuracies.
I have the best job in the world.
