Discovery of Roman Wells in Hungary

Archaeologists have unearthed Roman-era wells in western Hungary, potentially part of the ancient settlement of Maestriana.

A team from Göcseji Museum conducted the excavation ahead of a construction project, finding three Roman wells from the second century.

Our most important find consists of three Roman wells from the second century, all located within a single excavation unit.

Pottery likely imported from Gaul and other objects were recovered, indicating Maestriana's trade networks.
