Massive demonstrations have erupted across Peru, demanding action against rising crime and political corruption.

At least one man was killed at a rally in Peru's capital, said Interim President José Jeri, as angry protests against the country’s political elite continue.

According to Peru's Ombudsman's Office, 102 people have been injured, including 78 police officers and 24 civilians.

Protesters tried to breach the security barrier around Congress, hurled stones and lit fireworks, while police in riot gear responded with tear gas.
